Veito heaters for outdoor areas and terraces
For outdoor use, selection is not based only on power. Protection rating, wind, number of open sides, mounting height and direction towards the occupied area all influence the result.
Four criteria that change the choice outdoors
Why carbon fibre is suitable for localised heating
In an open space, the practical goal is to direct energy towards the occupied area, not to heat the entire mass of air.
Rapid thermal response
The carbon-fibre element allows Veito heaters to quickly deliver radiant energy towards people and surfaces within the heater's range.
Heater orientation
The heater should be directed towards the area of use, not towards empty space.
Reflector
The reflector helps concentrate and distribute radiation towards the useful area.
Control
Power levels allow the heating level to be adapted according to conditions and model.
IP55 for outdoor use and protected models for other scenarios
The IP rating must be interpreted together with installation instructions and the real conditions of the location.
Blade S & Nevada 2500
CH2500RW & Nevada 2 kW
Blade S or Nevada 2500?
Both are IP55 solutions, but they differ in design and configuration flexibility.
Outdoors, the main issue is not only air temperature
Wind, open sides and distance from the heater quickly change the sensation of comfort.
In an indoor space, heated air remains in the room and can gradually raise the overall temperature. On an open terrace, warm air is constantly replaced by cold air. This is why radiant heating is suitable outdoors: energy is transferred towards people and surfaces within the heater's range without relying exclusively on heating the entire air volume.
However, infrared does not eliminate the effect of wind. If cold air moves strongly between the tables, perceived comfort will decrease even if the heater is operating correctly. Positioning, orientation and lateral protection of the terrace therefore remain important.
A terrace with a roof and two protected sides behaves differently from a fully open one. For this reason, estimates based only on area in square metres should be treated as indicative. Correct selection depends on the real geometry of the space.
Open sides
The more open the space, the more important direct orientation towards the occupied area becomes.
Wind
Air currents influence comfort and can change the real heating requirement.
Distance
Mounting height and angle influence how effectively radiation reaches the occupied area.
The IP rating is not a marketing label, but a positioning criterion
IP55 for Blade S and Nevada 2500
For models intended for outdoor use, the protection rating is important because the heater may be exposed to moisture and particles. Blade S and Nevada 2500 are presented with IP55 protection, making them suitable for outdoor applications under the conditions defined by the manufacturer.
An IP rating does not mean the heater can be installed anywhere. Installation instructions, safety distances and position relative to water sources must still be respected. On fully protected terraces, models with a different protection rating may also be used if the location is compatible.
CH2500RW, for example, has IP24 protection and is better suited to covered terraces, verandas and protected spaces. The correct model should therefore be selected according to the real environment, not only by power or design.
A well-directed heater can be more effective than a more powerful unit installed incorrectly
Thermal radiation must reach the area where people are located. If the heater is mounted too high, directed parallel to the seating area or positioned laterally without useful coverage, part of the energy will not contribute to the desired comfort.
For an outdoor table, the heater should be directed so the radiant zone covers the occupied seats. A lounge or sofa area may require a different installation. In larger projects, two correctly positioned heaters can provide more even distribution than a single centrally installed unit.
A stand is useful where the terrace layout changes, while fixed installation offers stability and constant orientation. The choice depends on furniture, circulation routes and how the space is used.
Wall
Stable position and precise direction towards the area of use.
Ceiling / structure
Useful for pergolas and spaces where the heater must be integrated discreetly.
Stand
Flexibility for seasonal terraces or reconfigurable furniture.
Two IP55 models, two different ways to integrate them into the terrace
Veito Blade S
Veito Nevada 2500
The choice between Blade S and Nevada should not be based only on power because both can be used outdoors. Blade S suits projects where slim design and architectural integration are priorities, while Nevada offers very good flexibility through versions available with a stand.
For covered terraces or more protected spaces, CH2500RW may be a suitable alternative, but its IP24 rating must match the installation environment. If the space is indoors or very well protected, other Veito models can also become relevant.
Why two terraces with the same area may require different configurations
Area is only one criterion. Exposure, wind, height and geometry change the result.
A 20 m² terrace attached to the house, with a roof and two side walls, may retain comfort more easily than a fully open 20 m² terrace. In the first case, the heater can be installed closer to the seating area and benefit from more favourable geometry. In the second, air currents and lack of protection can reduce perceived comfort.
For this reason, we do not recommend choosing by a simple formula such as “one heater for X square metres” without analysing the space. Outdoors, it is more accurate to think in terms of acomfort zone: the table, sofa, lounge corner or waiting area.
In larger projects, several correctly positioned heaters can provide more even distribution than one very powerful unit. They also allow the terrace to be divided into zones that can be switched on separately.
Housing, reflector and heater protection matter just as much as the heating element
Outdoors, the materials and construction of the heater must withstand repeated use and temperature variations.
Aluminium and slim design
Premium models such as Blade S use construction designed for discreet integration into modern terraces, where the heater remains visible and becomes part of the setting.
Housing and structure
Rigidity, thermal stability and finish are important for frequent outdoor use.
Reflector
Helps direct radiant energy towards the useful area and reduce directional losses.
IP rating
Must match the installation environment and the manufacturer's instructions.
How the choice changes between an open terrace, pergola and protected area
Exposed terrace
The priority is a model suitable for outdoor use, installed close enough to the occupied area and correctly directed.
Pergola
Lateral protection can improve comfort, while the structure provides more fixed-installation options.
Protected terrace
Models with different protection ratings may also become suitable if their placement is compatible with the heater instructions.
Blade S vs Nevada 2500: which should you choose for outdoor use?
Blade S and Nevada 2500 have the same maximum output of 2500 W and are both aimed at outdoor use, but they respond to different priorities. Blade S suits projects where slim design, premium construction and visual integration are very important.
Nevada 2500 is a very good choice when flexibility is a priority. Availability with and without a stand allows the heater to adapt to terraces where furniture or the occupied area changes more often.
From an SEO and technical perspective, it is important to emphasise that the choice between them is not based only on IP55 protection. Installation type, appearance, desired position and whether the heater should remain fixed or be repositionable also matter.
Outdoors, power levels and remote control are often more important than the thermostat
On an open terrace, wind and constant air exchange make control different from an indoor space.
For outdoor use, remote controlallows rapid adjustment when temperature drops, wind increases or the occupied area changes. It is especially useful for wall-mounted heaters where direct access is inconvenient.
Power levelsare very important in an open space because comfort requirements change quickly. On a mild evening a reduced level may be enough, while colder or windier periods may require a higher level within the model's limits.
The timerhelps control operating duration, especially when heating is used only for dinner, a lounge area or a defined period. This allows the heater to be used only when needed, without unnecessary operation.
The thermostatshould be interpreted differently outdoors. On a fully open terrace, ambient temperature can change very quickly and does not always reflect the radiant comfort felt by people within the heater's range. The function becomes more useful on covered terraces, verandas or semi-enclosed spaces.

Veito heaters for outdoor use
Which Veito models are suitable for outdoor use?
Blade S and Nevada 2500 are the main models presented for outdoor use and terraces, both with IP55 protection.
What does IP55 mean?
It is the declared protection rating for those models. Selection and installation must still follow the heater instructions and the real environment.
Does wind influence heating?
Yes. Outdoors, wind and how open the terrace is influence comfort and make correct heater positioning very important.
Can I mount the heater very high?
Mounting height and distances must be established according to the model instructions. Distance from the occupied area also influences the perceived effect.
Do Blade S and Nevada have the same use?
Both can be used outdoors, but the choice may depend on design, installation and the need for stand flexibility.
Is CH2500RW in the same outdoor category?
CH2500RW has IP24 protection and is presented mainly for indoor spaces, verandas and protected terraces; positioning must match its protection rating.
Protection, positioning and space matter together.
Compare Blade S and Nevada 2500 and choose the configuration that matches the terrace's exposure level.
